Joint strategy to help curb militant infiltration: Gilani
KABUL (PAN): Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that a joint strategy to monitor cross-border movement between Pakistan and Afghanistan would greatly help check infiltration of undesirable elements damaging the efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region.
In a statement issued from his secretariat in Islamabad, Gilani said that Pakistan desires the success of Afghan-led reconciliation and peace process which would positively impact the security environment.
The Prime Minister was talking to Ch Ahmad Mukhtar, Minister for Defence, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat in Islamabad on Tuesday morning.
Mukhtar briefed Gilani on the recent development regarding the security situation at Pakistan's western borders.
Gillani assured the Defence Minister that the government would continue to support and help the armed forces to face the security challenges confronted the nation.
