KABUL and opening a branch in Kabul, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.

IDB Head Ahmad Mohammad Ali assured the finance Afghan Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal of this during his visit to Saudi Arabia, the ministry spokesman, Aziz Shams, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Zakhilwal went to Saudi Arabia to attend a yearly meeting of bank officials that concluded on Wednesday, he said. The minister had a private meeting the bank chief, he said.

Shams said Mohammad Ali had said the bank wanted to support Afghanistan in importing electricity from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, producing electricity at home, constructing dams and roads, and other development activities.

Mohammad Ali is expected to visit Afghanistan in the near future to open a branch of the Islamic Development Bank, the finance ministry official said.
