PUL-I-ALAM (PAN fighters have been killed and more than a dozen others wounded during an ongoing operation in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, an official said on Friday.

Launched three days ago, the operation was ongoing in the Zarghon Khar area, provincial police chief, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Roghlewanai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Four policemen and an Afghan army soldier were injured during clashes with the rebels, he said, adding two suicide belts, four Kalashnikovs, two machineguns, three walkies-talkies, five pistols and a rocket launcher were seized by the forces.

Two vehicles belonging to foreign troops were slightly damaged in roadside bombings during the offensive, the police chief said, but he had no information if the NATO-led troops suffered any casualties.

There has been no comment from the Taliban about the operation.
