KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A newly constructed meeting hall, a dining hall for police and a boundary wall were opened in the premises of Daman district headquarters building in southern Kandahar province on Sunday.
A ceremony in this regard was attended by the governor, Dr. Toryalai Wesa, Daman district chief, Haji Siraj Ahmad, tribal elders and provincial development council members.
Haji Siraj Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects cost 11 million afghanis provided by Canada.
He said the meeting hall had the capacity to accommodate 700 people at a time. A number of policemen would benefit from the dining hall, he said.
The governor said the new structures would help streamline the affairs of the district headquarters. Wesa said the district officials would be able to resolve problems facing residents within a better environment.
