Seven Afghans killed in Waziristan’s flooding

ISLAMABAD (PANinfo-icon): Seven Afghan refugees have perished in floods in the South Waziristan area, which borders Afghanistaninfo-icon, said Nematullah Dawar, a Pakistani government official in the area.

He said the flooding originated in the Shalam, Raghzai and Dana areas of the Barmal district of southeastern Paktika province, killing seven Afghan refugees, including a 3-year old boy, two womeninfo-icon and four men.

He called the Afghans brothers, saying that the Pakistani government would help the affected families.

An elderly resident of the Raghzai area told Pajhwok Afghan News that a lot of livestock and ripe crops were also washed away by the floods.

He added the government has yet to help the victims.

According to Gulla Jan, people are obliged to live on rooftops because of the flooding.
