NANGARHAR: Two civilians were killed and one injured in an explosion in the Khogyano district of Nangarhar province on Friday evening. Elsewhere in Nangarhar, a girls’ school was torched early Saturday morning, in the third such incident in the province in the past two months.

Khogyano district chief Haji Mohammad Hasan said that victims of the bomb explosion were residents of Garbawi area of Shir Zad district and came to Khogyano to participate in a livestock market. They were killed around 7:00 pm while returning home.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

ZABUL: The provincial police chief escaped unhurt on Saturday from a suicide bombing that injured nine civilians in the southern province of Zabul, officials said. Only the bomber was killed.

A motorized rickshaw was detonated at around 9:30 am while provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Nabi Elham was traveling to his office, Elham told Pajhwok Afghan News.
