PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): At least 32 wedding guests were poisoned in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Wednesday.
The guests were poisoned in the Baikh area of Dahna-i-Ghori district on Tuesday night, Col. Noor Gul, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Twenty of the poisoned individuals, including six women and 12 children, were taken to the Baghlan Civil Hospital. A dozen others were rushed to Nasaji Hospital.
Baghlan Civil Hospital acting director, Dr. Sarwar, said the victims were in stable condition. But the cause of poisoning remained unclear, he added.
Dr. Habibur Rahman Fazli, the Nasaji Hospital head, confirmed receiving 12 people with complaints of vomiting and dizziness.
One of the victims, Khair Mohammad, 25, said: “I felt dizzy and started vomiting soon after taking the wedding supper.” His wife and two children were also poisoned.
