BALKH: Four civilians were killed and a dozen others injured in a bomb explosion in northern Balkh province, residents said on Wednesday.
Explosives planted on a bicycle were detonated at around 12.00 noon in the Dash-i-Shor area on the outskirts of Mazar-i-Sharif city, a police officer in the area said on condition of anonymity.
The bicycle was placed on a truck parked in a market near a tower of the private Roshan telecommunication company, the source told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Giving a witness account, Jan Mohammad said four civilians were killed and a dozen others wounded in the blast. Five women and some children were among the injured.

URUZGAN: A commander was killed along with two policemen during a clash with militants in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Fida Mohammad, local police commander, and two of his subordinates were killed in the firefight took place late on Tuesday night in Khas Uruzgan district, the governor’s spokesman, Mila Ahmad Mudassir said.
Mudassir told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban also suffered casualties in the fight. However, he did not have the exact casualty figure.
Khalilullah, an area resident, said the clash erupted after the militants stormed the commander’s house. Both sides suffered casualties, he said.
