Obama congratulates new ISAF commander

“The president called General John Allen today to congratulate him on his promotion to the rank of general, earning his fourth star, and his assumption of command of ISAF and US forces in Afghanistan,” the White House press secretary said.

Jay Carney told a news conference that the president expressed his full confidence in Gen. Allen as he took over the important assignment. Obama looked forward to working closely with the new commander, Carney said.
