KABUL) said on Sunday.

During the overnight raid in Daulatshah, the combined force targeted a Taliban facilitator, blamed for coordinating attacks against Afghan and coalition forces, the alliance said in a statement.

In an effort to clear a compound associated with the individual, the security personnel asked all building occupants to exit, it added. As a result, all women and children left the building.

“Two males were non-compliant and remained inside the building. Local females assisted the security force in calling for the men to exit the building, but the individuals refused to leave.”

As the troops entered the building to apprehend them, one of the men charged the security members, displaying hostile intent. Sensing a threat, they fired at the man and killed him. The force subsequently discovered the man was unarmed.

“Three individuals with suspected ties to the Taliban were detained during the operation. The force also confiscated multiple RPG rounds, several RPG boosters, piles of AK-47 and machine gun rounds, military clothing and a chest rack,” the statement said.

District police chief, Capt. Rahm Khuda, told Pajhwok Afghan News the raid was conducted in the Malangyalai area of Daulatshah. He confirmed the killing and arrests.

Elsewhere, unidentified gunmen attacked a logistic convoy on the Kabul-Mazar-i-Sharif highway in Samangan province. Highway commander, Col. Mohammad Asif Khan, said a truck driver was wounded in the assault.

But Ibrahim Khan, the administrative head of the Khulm district in Balkh, said the attackers were robbers, not militants.

On the other hand, a Taliban spokesman said the fighters had attacked an ISAF supply convoy in the area. Two vehicles were destroyed, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed.
