KABUL): President Hamid Karzai has accepted the resignation of his spokesman, Waheed Omar, Karzai’s office said Sunday.
It was not immediately clear why he quit. He previously submitted his resignation in January although at that stage it was rejected.
However, now Karzai has accepted his resignation, the presidential palace said in a statement.
Karzai praised Omar as an “honest and patriotic man.”
Omar confirmed that his resignation had been accepted by the president. Omar remained the spokesman for the Karzai’s election campaign office since 2009 and also the head of government media centre.
