KABUL): Fourteen armed insurgents were killed and 43 others arrested during joint security operations by Afghan and foreign forces in different provinces, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday.
Featuring Afghan police, armyand International Security Assistance Force members, the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika and Paktiaprovinces over the past 24 hours.
At least four militants were injured and 43 others arrested, with police seizing a car and 10 motorbikes from the fighters, the ministry said in a statement.
Two militants were blown up by the anti-vehicle landmines they were planting in the Dilaram district of western Farah province, the statement added. Seventeen roadside bombs, 36 kilograms of hashish and a pistol were recovered.
