KABUL): A newly-established centre to facilitate traders and promote trade activities was inaugurated in the capital Kabul on Wednesday.
The centre has been established at the compound of the Trade and Industry Centre with financial assistance from the Trade and Accession Facilitation for Afghanistan), an official said.
Addressing a gathering, Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries chief, Muhammad Qurban Haqjo, said that traders would have acess to information about local and international markets and trade agreements at the centre.
“This centre will arrange daily programmes for the improvement of Afghan traders, who will also have internet facility,” he said.
TAFAspokesman, Ahmad Zia, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the new centre would provide important information to Afghan traders about financial issues.
Head of the fruit export association of Afghan traders, Haji Mohsin, termed the centre’s inauguration as good step towards the promotion of trade activities in the region.
Afghanistan produces some 110 kinds of fruits and 49 kinds of herbs, but due to a lack of proper market and transport facility, the products are not imported abroad.
A similar trade centre to facilitate exportation of commercial goods to Pakistan was inaugurated in eastern Nangarhar province on June 23.
A third such centre is due to be opened in southern Kandahar province this month.
Haqjo said the Kandahar centre is estimated to cost $130,000.
