Taliban-designated district chief detained

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN-designated district chief was detained along with two of his commanders in northeastern Baghlan province, an official said on Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Asadullah Sherzad, the provincial police chief confirmed the detention of Qari Mustafa, the Taliban chief for Doshi district. He was allegedly involved in planting roadside bombs.

Qari Mustafa was detained late on Wednesday night in the Torkham border town in eastern Nangarhar province, said a Baghlan intelligence official.He hoped the security situation would improve with his arrest.
