Kunar floods claim 6 lives, damage crops

ASADABAD (PAN‘s northwestern tribal region of Bajaur, an official said on Friday.

Two people were killed in Sandari, two in Wardesh and as many in Nanglam as a result of the rain-induced floods, the Manogai district chief, Haji Noorullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The bodies of a woman and a girl were fished out of a creek in Wardesh, while the four people have been missing. The flooding also destroyed four houses in Wardesh.  

Noorullah said maize and rice crops over hundreds of acres of land had been damaged in Watapur district.

A key bridge connecting Asadabad with Watapur was also washed away. Resident Janat Gul said five vehicles had drowned with the collapse of the bridge.
