KABUL (PAN): An important Al Qaeda leader was killed in a recent US drone attack in Pakistan's troubled tribal region of North Waziristan, an official said on Saturday.

The August 1 missile attack near Qutub Khel village, five kilometres east of Miranshah, killed four suspected militants. The CIA-operated drone fired two missiles at a vehicle, carrying the militants.

An intelligence source, who did not want to be named, that Al Qaeda's logistic affairs head was among the dead. Abdul Khaliq, better known as Mohammad, was a Saudi citizen who also looked after the network's financial affairs in Waziristan.
