4 convicted of drug trafficking
The individuals were detained with 510 kilograms of opium, 180 litres of acid and 156 litres of alcoholic beverages, the CJTF spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Ahmad Khalid Mowahid said the court had given the accused enough time to hire defence lawyers to plead their cases. On the basis of evidence produced before it, the court found the men guilty.
Hailing from Kabul, Nangarhar and Nimroz provinces, the convicts were sentenced to a minimum of six months in jail and a maximum of 20 years.
Last week, at least 12 other people were also sentenced from 13 up to 20 years in imprisonment by the appellant court for trafficking alcohol and drugs.
The CJTF has sentenced 183 people on charges of drug trafficking during the past three months. Four others were acquitted because of insufficient evidence.
