KABUL(PAN): Afghanistan trounced Kenya by nine wickets in their ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier match at the Limavady Club in Ireland late on Saturday night, the national team manager said on Sunday.
The opposition won the toss and elected to bat first in the four-day match that was curtailed because of rain, Sher Aqa told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone from Ireland.
Kenyans were restricted to 154 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated overs, with Vishram playing a whirlwind knock of 59 off only 40 deliveries. Patel struck an unbeaten 30 and Allan 28 to give their total a measure of respectability.
Aqa said the national squad raced to the target in the 19th over for the loss of only one wicket, Mangal, who could not open his account before being sent back to the pavilion.
Javed Ahmadi smashed a quick-fire 86 at a strike rate of 169 percent and Hashmatullah Shahidi chipped in with 63 to guide Afghanistan U-19 to a convincing nine-wicket triumph.
