Afghans score emphatic win over Vanuatu
Having won the toss, the national team elected to bowl first, a decision that paid off, Sher Aqa told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone from Ireland.
Syed Sherzad, who captured five wickets, was the pick of Afghan bowlers. Intelligently assisted by Yamin Ahmadzai, he restricted the opposition to 111 runs in 26.2 overs.
Aqa said the national squad achieved the target in the 17th over for the loss of only one wicket, Abdul Mangal, who scored five runs before being sent back to the pavilion.
Javed Ahmadi rattled up an unbeaten 68 and Hashmatullah Shahidi 31 to power Afghanistan U-19 to a convincing nine-wicket victory, the second in a row.
A day earlier, the national side humbled Nepal by a similar margin. Again, Ahmadi and Shahidi had set the tone for Afghanistan's triumph.
