2,324 expired infusion bags seized in Jawzjan

2,324 expired infusion bags seized in Jawzjan

Aug 08, 2011 - 18:31

SHIBERGHAN (PANinfo-icon): Security officials said on Monday they had recovered 2,324 expired infusion bags sold by the public healthinfo-icon department in northern Jawzjan province.

Intelligence operatives seized the drips, which were stolen from public health drug depot on July 17 by Director Rahmatullah Haideri and his son Dr. Shah Rukh, a source said.

An intelligence official said the infusion bags had expired on August 1. The director and his son have been referred to the prosecutor's office for investigations.

Documents made available to PAN show that Shah Rukh took 2,700 infusion bags from the medicine depot. He had a permission letter signed by his father.

The documents reveal Haideri's son, who also works for the Bakhtar Development Network, had sent the drips to Aqcha, Qarqin and Khumab districts. Abdul Rahman, in charge of the depot, said the infusion bags had been taken out by force.

Despite efforts, neither the public health director nor Ministry of Public Health officials could be reached for comments. One ministry official in Kabulinfo-icon said they could not give information after their duty timings.
