9 policemen injured in roadside blast
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Nine public order policemen were injured in a remote-controlled bomb explosion in the southern province of Helmand, an official said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when a police vehicle, part of a convoy that was going from Kabul to Lashkargah, hit a roadside bomb in the Safyan area on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
The commander of 5th brigade of public order police, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Ghafoori, told Pajhwok Afghan News the injured policemen were discharged from hospital after being administered first aid.
However, the governor’s spokesman, Daud Ahmadi, said a rocket shell exploded inside police vehicle, injuring the occupants. Two civilians were injured in police fire, he said.
Six of the injured policemen were taken to Emergency and Bost Hospitals.
