District chief survives Taliban attack
The rebels fired at Baraki Barak district chief Eng. Mohammad Rahim Amin's vehicle in the Oni Syedan area of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, around noon, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai said.
He added two fighters were killed and three others wounded during a subsequent gunbattle with police. The bodies of the rebels, residents of Pakistan's tribal region of Waziristan, are lying at the scene, according to the police chief.
Several bullets hit his armoured vehicle, but he and his guards were not hurt, said Eng. Amin, who has survived three assassination attempts. He was going to Pul-i-Alam to attend a meeting.
