PUL-I-ALAM (PANinfo-icon): A woman and a child were injured when a coalition-fired rocket hit a hospital in the Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, officials said on Wednesday.

Abdul Hamid Hamed, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place when the Talibaninfo-icon attacked an International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) patrol near the hospital.

He added the militants hid behind the perimeter wall of the Shafiqullah Lodin Hospital, which was damaged as a result of the incident.

Ahmad Shakib, a doctor at the hospital, said the patients spent all night without electricity. Power supply was disrupted by the rocket strike.

In response to an email from Pajhwok, the NATOinfo-icon-led force said: "ISAF officials are aware of allegations of a coalition-caused civilian casualty and property damage in Muhammad Agha district."

Initial reports indicate, at approximately midnight, the coalition patrol received fire from insurgents. The US-led soldiers returned fire to defend themselves, it added.
