2 brothers killed in Nangarhar mosque attack
The two were breaking the fast at the mosque when insurgents opened fire at them in Mazini village on Wednesday, said Hazrat Khan Khaksar, the district chief.
The brothers had a construction company, which constructs school buildings, he said, adding one of the two attackers was captured by area people and second managed to make his escape good.
The slain brothers were residents of northeastern Konduz province.
Tribal leader, Haji Shah Wali, said area residents had invited the unknown attackers to the mosque because it was Iftari time. He said the attackers pretended to be travelers. The villagers killed one of them, the elder said.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, denied their involvement in the incident.
