LASHKARGAH (PAN): A newly constructed two-storey building for the municipality of southern Helmand province was inaugurated on Thursday.
Having 28 offices and a meeting hall and other facilities, the structure took one year to complete, said Governor Muhammad Gulab Mangal.
Funded by the UK Department for International Developmental (DFID) and Habitat programme of the United Nations, the new facility cost $300,000 (14.1 million afghanis).
Earlier, the municipality had no proper building and workers had to face many problems, he said.
A municipality official, Habibullah, said the building was constructed over two acres of the state land.
Currently, the municipality has 293 staffers, the number of whom increased due the expansion of the city.
