18 rebels killed, 31 detained: ministry
Afghan police, army and intelligence officials, as well as coalition forces, conducted the operations in Kabul, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Paktika, Baghlan, Paktia and Farah provinces.
"As a result of these operations, 18 armed insurgents were killed, seven wounded and 31 arrested," a statement from the ministry said. Police also seized weapons from the fighters.
Border police arrested three passengers with fake passports at the Kabul International Airport, the ministry said, without naming the detainees. Police also arrested four people involved in an armed robbery and kidnapping.
Police seized 13 anti-vehicle mines, one anti-personnel mine, 20 kilograms of explosives, seven AK-47 rifles, six pistols, two rocket-launchers, five motorbikes, one vehicle and five artillery shells.
