Waziristan rocket strike kills 3 soldiers
ISLAMABAD (PAN): Three Pakistani soldiers were killed and 15 others injured on Sunday when a Taliban-fired rocket hit a military base in the northern Waziristan tribal region near the Afghanistan border, an official said.
Umer Khan Dawar, a government official based in Miranshah, the main town in the region, told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone that the incident took place at about 6 am.
Khan said the forces conducted a search operation immediately after the incident but the mastermind behind the strike had not been identified yet and details of the attack remained sketchy.
In an unrelated incident, an oil tanker was torched on the Torkham-Peshawar Highway when unidentified gunmen fired at a NATO supply convoy.
