Some residents aided attackers: Parwan governor
"The people provide shelter for and instructed the suicide attackers," Governor Abdul Basir Salangi told a news conference. Chechens, strangers in the province, were also involved in the attack, he revealed.
Some people of the Togh Burdi area connived with the assailants and showed them the targeted areas, according to Salangi, who said security forces were chasing suspects.
As a result of an overnight operation, three suspects were arrested. In order to improve the security situation, police had increased night patrols of the city, the governor added.
Twenty-two people were killed in the brazen suicide attack by the Taliban on the governor's house in Charikar, the capital of Parwan, on Sunday. Another 34 people, mostly civilians and policemen, were wounded.
