2 Taliban killed in Zabul, 4 detained in Samangan

QALAT/AIBAK (PANinfo-icon): Two Talibaninfo-icon fighters were killed and four others detained while planting roadside bombs in Zabul and Samangan provinces officials said on Friday.

In one incident, two rebels were killed last evening in Umerzai area of Sewri district of Zabul, police chief Col. Fazal Ahmed Sherzad said. The men were planting bombs on the highway.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said the militants stormed a security post in Shah Joi last night. As a result, he claimed, the post and a police vehicle were destroyed and several officials killed and wounded.

Separately, four guerrillas were detained while planting landmines on the Baghlan-Samangan highway in the Sandoqchi area of Aibak, the capital of Samangan.

Samangan intelligence chief Gen. Mir Ali Baloch identified the detainees as Maulviinfo-icon Ahmad Khan, alias Maulvi Hamza, Lotfullah, alias Qari, Maulvi Shamsur Rehman and Amiruddin.
