2 militants killed in Kunduz clash
KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Two Taliban militants were killed and three others injured during a clash with a joint Afghan-international security force in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Saturday.
The clash erupted after a group of insurgents attacked the joint patrol in the Lala Maidan area of Aliabad district late on Friday night, police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News. The joint force suffered no casualties in the attack, he said.
But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed that three policemen were killed and a fourth injured during the ambush. He denied the fighters had suffered casualties.
Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said a number of militants were detained during a joint operation in the province.
Without disclosing the exact location, the force said the offensive targeted a Taliban leader who regulated attacks against Afghan forces.
But Sarwar Hussain expressed his unawareness about the operation.
