Captors kill counterterrorism police officer
ASAD ABAD/KHOST (PAN): The counterterrorism police chief for the Watapur district of eastern Kunar province was killed by his captors, while five intelligence officials were injured in southeastern Khost, officials said on Saturday.
The body of Naqibullah, who was kidnapped three days back, was found in the Katar Qala area, the district chief, Zalmay Yousafzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Elders collected the body before it was transferred to the victim's family.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Naqibullah had arrested two fighters, who were later killed.
In another incident, five intelligence agents were injured when their car hit a landmine in the Borgee area of Dwa Manda district of Khost province. District police chief, Lieutenant Hamidullah, said no one had been arrested so far in connection with the blast.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing, with Mujahid saying six intelligence officials were killed in the incident.
