AIBAK (PAN): Thousands of families have benefitted from the gravelling of a road in the Roy Do Ab district road of northern Samangan province, an official said.
Work on expanding and paving the 120-kilometre road was launched four years ago, Eng. Zia Humayun, the deputy director of public work, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Including 30 culverts and one huge bridge, the road has a 900-metre retaining wall. The project cost $400,000, provided by the Swedish government.
Resident Amrullah, 37, said they previously spent up to eight hours travelling to the district centre. The time has now been reduced to five hours.
