KABULinfo-icon(PANinfo-icon): A Pakistani citizen was sentenced to 20 years in jail on the charge of drug trafficking, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) announced on Sunday.

The man had been detained with six AK-47 rifles, more than 2000 liters of alcoholic beverages and 30 litres of a banned chemical substance in eastern Nangarhar province.

He had brought the contraband in a Hino truck from Peshawar, Ahmad Khalid Mowahid, the (CJTF) spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Under the relevant law, the convict can move the appellant court of CJTF against the judgment, the spokesman said. During the trial, the defence lawyer was given enough time to plead his client's case.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court sentenced the 32 years old Pakistani to 20 years in jail, Mowahid said.
