Rebels held with weapons in Herat
HERAT(PAN): A three-member rebel group was busted while smuggling weapons in western Herat province, a senior official said on Sunday.
The militants, transferring weapons from the Injil district to a refugee town in Shidai area, were detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS) agents.
NDS operatives also seized seven Kalashnikovs, a pistol, two machine guns, four Afghan National Army uniforms and a pick-up from the detainees, the governor.
The detainees had confessed to their crime during preliminary investigations, Daud Shah Saba told Pajhwok Afghan News. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
