CHARIKARinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Two German mountaineers have been missing in central Parwan province for the past four days, local officials said on Tuesday.

The foreigners disappeared in Salang district, Brig. Gen Sher Ahmad Maldani, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A search operation, involving helicopters, was underway for the climbers, the police chief said. However, he added, there had been no clue to the climbers so far.

The foreigners disembarked from a vehicle in the district. After sometime, the driver reported their disappearance to local security officials, Maldani explained.

Roshan Khalid, a spokesperson for the governor, said the German citizens were mountaineers. He added they had no idea of their whereabouts.
