Government land recovered in Khost
KHOST CITY (PAN): As many as 33,370 acres of government-owned land had been recovered from powerful individuals in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Thursday.
A number of projects, like vegetable cold storage and a new airport and other schemes worth millions of dollars, had to be suspended or delayed due to land-grab, the governor's spokesman said.
Mubarez Zadran told a news conference in Khost City, the provincial capital, more land would be wrested back from encroachers. The authorities had sped up the recovery process, he added.
Zadran said security forces had arrested several people who had grabbed government land. Those still occupying state-owned land would also be arrested, he promised.
