Ex-jihadi commanders shot dead in Baghlan
"Unidentified gunmen killed Kimya Gul as he entered a mosque for the Taraweeh prayer in the Amarkhel area of Baghlan-i-Markazi district," the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Col. Mohammad Kamin said a brother of the 45-year-old commander and another individual were injured in the assault. They were taken to hospital, but no word about their health condition was immediately available.
Elsewhere in the province, the police chief said, militants gunned down Shirin Agha, a former jihadi commander, along with his security guard in the Raba area. Agha was ambushed near his home while returning from a local market.
