    8 insurgents killed, ministry claims

    KABUL (PAN): Eight fighters were killed and as many others captured in operations by Afghan and coalition forces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior in Kabul said on Saturday.

    Another 21 militants were captured during clashes with Afghan police, army, intelligence agents and coalition forces in Kabul, Balkh, Khost, Logar, Farah, Helmand, Ghazni and Paktiya provinces.

    Police defused seven roadside bombs and seized four mortar shells, two BM-1 bullets, 24 drums of acid, 1,250 kilograms of chemicals, two hand grenades, a pistol, 70 kg of opium, 24 kg of heroin, three AK-47 rifles, one explosives-rigged motorbike and 85 weapons.
