Above 100 Haqqani-linked rebels killed this year: NATO
KABUL (PAN): More than a hundred insurgents linked to the Haqqani terror network, an Afghan insurgent group based in Pakistan's Waziristan region, were killed this year in southeastern Afghanistan, NATO said Wednesday.
The above 100 insurgents, a half of them leaders and commanders, were killed during clashes with security forces in southeastern Khost, southern Ghazni, and central Uruzgan provinces, the alliance said in a statement.
The Taliban also claim to have inflicted heavy casualties on foreign and local forces during rebel attacks this year in the said provinces.
Political analyst, Mohammad Hassan, believes it is a propaganda war hatched by the parties involved. He said both sides in the war had so far been unable to produce credible evidences in defence of their claims.
