4 policemen killed in Bamyan rocket attack
BAMYAN CITY (PAN): Four policemen, including an officer, were killed when militants hit their vehicle with a rocket in the central province of Bamyan, officials said on Friday.
The attack happened in the Koh Mard district on Thursday evening, the governor’s spokesman, Abdul Rahman Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. An officer was among four policemen killed in the attack, he said.
A passerby was also injured, and the police vehicle destroyed in the rocket assault, the official said, adding a delegation, including the provincial police chief, has been sent to the area to take the dead bodies to Bamyan City.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, with rebel spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, saying eight policemen were killed. However, he said it was a roadside bombing.
Bamyan city is among the seven areas where the first phase of the security transition process has been completed.
