ISAF arrests 6 suspects in Baghlan
PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Six suspected militants were arrested by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops during an operation in the Tala Barfak district of northern Baghlan province, an official said on Sunday.
The midnight operation was conducted in the Qura villiage, the district police chief, Sangi Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
However, he said initial reports suggested the detainees had no links to the Taliban.
Resident Ghulam Yahya said: “It was around 1am when foreign and Afghan forces raided a house, arresting six inmates.” He said the detainees were locals and had connection with the Taliban.
In a statement, ISAF confirmed the arrests, saying the men were detained during a search operation targeting a Taliban leader in Baghlan
There has been no word from the Taliban so far about the incident.
