By Habib Rahman Shirzai Sep 4, 2011 - 18:19PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): A police sergeant was killed and the crime branch chief for Nahrin district was injured in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Sunday.
The two had gone to the Sakyan village to resolve a land dispute between two tribes and came under attack from unknown gunmen on their way back, Col. Abdul Samad, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The attackers were able to make their escape good, he said.
Fazul Rahman, the district chief, confirmed the death of a sergeant and injury to the district crime branch chief in the attack. He said an investigation had been opened to determine who attacked the police officials.
