LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): As many as 108 people were injured in various traffic accidents during Eid days in different areas of southern Helmand province, including the capital Lashkargah, officials said on Monday.

Most of the accidents involved motorcycles, said head of the Bost hospital, Dr. Abdul Samad Nasiri. Of the total injured, 90 sustained minor injuries, while another 18 people were admitted to hospitals with broken arms and legs, he said.

Police Chief Brig. Gen. Muhammad Hakeem Angar said he had no exact figures for those injured, but admitted the number of accidents was high during Eid days.

A traffic police official blamed most of the accidents on carelessness by army drivers, who he said did not respect traffic rules.
