KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Eight insurgents were killed during a series of joint operations by Afghan and foreign forces in several provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior said on Monday.

Police backed by personnel from Afghan National Army, National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) and the US-led coalition forces launched seven joint and independent operations during the period in Kapisa, Baghlan, Balkh, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Khost provinces, the ministry said in a statement.

As a result of the operations, the statement said, eight armed insurgents were killed and 38 others arrested by police.

A large amount of light and heavy weapons were also discovered and seized.

On Sunday, at 09:30am, Afghan National Police arrested two mine planters with two rounds of mines and a motorbike while planting roadside mines in Baghhai Sanjatak locality of Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province.

In Nangarhar, Badakhshan, Balkh and Ghorinfo-icon provinces, police defused three rounds of anti-vehicle mines and seized one AK-47 machine gun with one magazine, two pistols, one bayonet, 16 rounds of mortar mines, one missile bullet, one hand grenade, 13 kg of opium and 3 kg of hashish over the past 24 hours

In central Kabul province, police arrested 13 men who they accused of murders in surrounding areas Farza and Bagrami districts.

Also, police recovered an unmanned vehicle in Rahman Mina region, PD 8th, Kabul City.

Police arrested two men accused of an armed robbery in Sar-i-Pul City, the capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province.
