Ghazni High Peace Council fails to elect head
Secretary and adviser of the council, Masoom Stanakzai, told government officials and members of the council during a meeting that the members should forget their differences and nominate a person to head the council. He also urged the militants to lay down their arms.
He said the High Peace Council led by former president Burhanuddin Rabbani had reached an agreement with neighboring countries on working together for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Musa Khan said they had received positive response from the militants, claiming terrorist activities had decreased in the province in the wake of peace talks with the rebels.
