Shirzad district chief killed in roadside blast
JALALABAD (PAN): The administrative head of Shirzad district in eastern Nangarhar province was killed along with three of his bodyguards when a remote-controlled bomb hit their vehicle, officials said on Tuesday.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast occurred three kilometers from the district center at around 12:45am, killing Aseel Ahmad Khugiani, the district chief, and three of his bodyguards and wounding a fourth one. The Police had reached the scene for investigation, he added.
The Taliban have not yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Four district police chiefs have so far been killed in violence in the province.
