Airstrike kills 5 militants in Kunar
Another four rebels were wounded in the air raid that took place in Ganj Gul village, Shah Mahmud, the Sarkano district chief, said.
The bodies of the five militants killed were still lying on the ground at the scene, he said.
In the same area, Mahmud, said a four-member militant group was detained during a ground operation by Afghan and foreign forces. He identified the group leader as Zahidullah.
A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid alleged that a dozen civilians were killed in the airstrike. He said the detainees were locals and had no relation with the movement.
However, Kunar police chief, Brig. Gen. Nazar Mohammad Naziri, rejected Mujahid's claim that civilians had killed or wounded in the airstrike.
