Development schemes executed in Jawzjan
SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Nine development projects, benefitting thousands of families, have been executed in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Thursday.
The schemes, costing a million US dollars (47,040,000 afghanis), were implemented in four months, said Eng. Hamida, project services officer at the UNAMA office in Shiberghan.
She said the projects included four bridges in Khwaja Du Koh district, gravelling of 25 kilometres of roads in Aqcha and Mardyan districts, 20 wells in nine villages and three bakeries.
A gabion-weaving project providing work opportunities for 100 women, who regularly received their salaries, was also implemented.
Mohammad Zahir Nazari, the acting mayor, praised the quality and weight of breads baked by the women.
