1 killed, 25 injured in Nimroz traffic accident
ZARANJ (PAN): One passenger was killed and 25others wounded in a traffic accident on the Zaranj-Dilaram Highway in southwestern Nimroz province on Friday, an official said.
The incident happened when a Kabul-bound bus, carrying 52 passengers, veered off the road, the Khashrod district chief, Mohammad Hashim Noorzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A young man died and 25 people, including seven children and three women, suffered injuries as a result of the crash, he said, blaming the accident on rash driving. "An investigation is underway."
Nimroz police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabbar Purdali, said policemen reached the scene soon after the accident and shifted the victims to hospital.
Ten of the slightly injured passengers were discharged after being administered first aid at a health facility of coalition forces. Eight others, including two children, are reported to be in serious condition.
