Suspected rebels killed in Logar raid
PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Two suspected militants were killed and a third detained in the Charkh district of central Logar province, officials said on Friday.
The fighters were killed during an overnight operation by coalition forces in the Garm Aaba area of the district, the Logar police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai identified the dead as Imamuddin and Javed, who had ties to the Taliban. Jalil was arrested with weapons, he added.
The fighters were staying at Javed's residence, which was raided by US-led troops on the basis of intelligence reports, the police chief said. Two Kalashnikovs, a pistol and three walkie-talkies were seized from the detainee.
Abdul Khalil, the district chief, confirmed the raid. The three men, allegedly involved in fuelling unrest in the province, had long been under coalition forces' observation, he said.
